Cambodia and Sweden cooperate to achieve Global Deal Initiative

Cambodia and Sweden pledged to continue their cooperation towards the realization of the Global Deal Initiative.
The commitment was underscored at a meeting yesterday between Ith Samheng, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, and Bjorn Haggmark, outgoing Swedish Ambassador to Cambodia here in Phnom Penh.
Samheng underlined the support of the Royal Government of Cambodia to the Global Deal Initiative through the creation of the interministerial commission for its deployment.
The Minister praised the good collaboration between the two countries in all sectors, especially in the field of work and vocational training.
Samheng told Haggmark that the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) through the Swedish Public Employment Service (SPES) has supported the National Employment Agency (NEA) and the Ministry of Labor. ‘Education, Youth and Sports with two projects.
The first project helps develop skills and jobs for young people in Cambodia 2013-2019, and the second focuses on career guidance for secondary education for 2019-2021.
SPES, together with Finn Church Aid, is also exploring possible cooperation on new projects to support people with disabilities in the labor market in Cambodia for 2021-2024, he added.
Haggmark thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for supporting the Global Deal initiative.
He also expressed his satisfaction during his diplomatic mission in the Kingdom, promoting relations and good collaboration in all fields with Cambodia, especially in the fields of diplomacy, economy, trade and labor and professional training. Lim Nary – AKP
