Etisalat and Ericsson address sustainability and climate action at Expo 2020

Etisalat and Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) hosted a sustainability-themed event titled “ICT Journey to Race to Zero” at the Swedish Pavilion at Expo 2020. The event was a call to action from l ” Expo to the world to leverage technologies to accelerate the transition to a low carbon economy and find new ways to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and address the most pressing challenge of our time : the climate crisis.

According to Ericsson research, ICT solutions can reduce global carbon emissions by up to 15% by 2030. United Arab Emirates being the first Gulf country to commit to zero net carbon emissions by 2050, the event was well aligned with the UAE’s vision and the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

Throughout the event, Etisalat and Ericsson also highlighted innovative solutions and partnerships that support the global journey to net zero emissions and how technology can be harnessed to serve the environment. In addition, the two companies spoke about partnerships and innovative solutions that support net-zero and projects in the UAE and the region and how the use of 5G will help decarbonize industries.
