H2 Green Steel selected SMS Group to provide processing technology for its green steel plant in northern Sweden
H2 Green Steel has chosen SMS Group to provide process technology for its green steel plant in northern Sweden.
The SMS Group is a German company recognized worldwide for its technologies and services for the metal industry. As part of this partnership, it will deliver processing equipment from the smelting workshop to the finished steel products. He will also bring his skill and experience to H2 Green Steel’s large-scale steelworks in Boden, the first of its kind powered by green hydrogen.

SMS Group will provide the EAF-based smelting shop, casting and hot rolling plant, as well as an advanced cold rolling and processing complex for the production of a wide range of products, including advanced grades of high strength steel and automotive steel.
The Swedish Energy Agency supported the early stages of the extensive engineering efforts that played an important role in finalizing this contract.
Total order volume for SMS Group exceeds €1 billion and includes a previously announced order awarded to SMS Group’s 100% company, Paul Wurth, and its consortium partner Midrex.
