India donates $500,000 to UN Agency for Women’s Empowerment

India To the UN: India donated US$500,000 to UN Women.

New York:

India has contributed US$500,000 to UN Women, the UN agency for gender equality and the empowerment of women, for its core budget.

India’s permanent representative to the United Nations took to Twitter to say that India “reaffirmed our valued partnership for women-led development and gender parity.” He further stated that he looked forward to working with UN Women to further strengthen the relationship.

“Delighted to hand over India’s contribution of USD 500,000 to ED (Executive Director) Sima Bahous @unwomenchief to the core budget of UN Women. Reaffirmed our valued partnership for women-led development and gender parity. I look forward to working closely with @UN_Women to continue our partnership,” Mr. Tirumurti tweeted.

UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous thanked India for its contribution and said India’s support to UN Women remains indispensable.

“Productive discussion with Amb TS Tirumurti @ambtstirumurti, Permanent Representative of India to the @UN @IndiaUNNewYork India’s support to @UN_Women remains indispensable in advocating for the rights of women and girls, worldwide. Thank you for your generous core contribution,” Sima Bahous tweeted.
