Klara Andersson to become first woman to run in RX2e

2021 Swedish Rallycross Championship, class 2150 champion, Klara Andersson will become the first female driver to enter the all-new FIA RX2e Championship, joining the series in the fourth round of the championship at World RX of Spa-Benelux October 9th.
The 21-year-old native of Löberöd will now advance in her career and she sees the RX2e as a viable route on her way to the top of rallycross. After racing in the Swedish rallycross championship for a few seasons in a rear-wheel-drive BMW 120 hatchback, this will be his first competitive race in a four-wheel-drive machine. She follows her sister Magda (former European Supercar driver) to become the next Andersson to broadcast the surname in Europe.
Klara started his kart racing career at the age of seven and spent six years in this category, mainly racing on Swedish soil with many regional victories, but also in Norway and Italy. It was in 2018 that she focused on rallycross and she really fell in love with the sport when she made a wildcard appearance at the 2019 Nordic RallyX final at Tierp Arena in the RX Academy class, and now she’s proud to be a member of the Swedish Junior National Motorsport Team which she will represent at Spa.
âAfter winning the Swedish rallycross championship this year, I started to look at the future of rallycross. The RX2e looks like a fun new class that gives you a taste of where the sport is heading, which appears to be mostly electric. said Andersson.
âIt’s an incredible opportunity to be able to drive the RX2e car to Spa in October and get a feel for what could be the next step in my career. This event was only possible with the support of Svensk Bilsport, the Swedish national team and my partners, and I am more than grateful and excited for this opportunity.
âRallycross is my passion in life and if I can do what I love in a more sustainable way then I totally agree. I have dreamed of competing in an FIA World Rallycross Championship since I was a little girl on my motorbike in the paddock, and making that dream come true at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps is an opportunity of a lifetime!

âWe are delighted to welcome Klara to the FIA ââRX2e Championship ahead of the fourth round. Father Gonzalez, Project manager, FIA RX2e Championship, added.
âHer upcoming appearance at Spa further strengthens what should be another top driver squad, and it will be exciting to see how she performs in our top RX2e car. “
