Protium, a British hydrogen-based green energy company, welcomes a new member of its board of directors and two advisory appointments to support its strategic acceleration plans.

The new appointments also coincide with the completion of its latest funding round to support the company’s growth trajectory and go-to-market strategy, allowing the team to accelerate clients’ projects towards full-scale development.

The growing team, which now covers England, Wales and Scotland, helps organizations across the UK deploy net zero energy solutions. This means focusing on distributed solutions using green hydrogen alongside other technologies that Protium develops, owns, finances and operates to tackle emissions in sectors that are most difficult to reduce.

In addition to securing the latest investment, the team made three notable new appointments to its board of directors and advisory board, expanding Protium’s diverse team of industry experts. Those who join the team include:

  • Mikael Ericson, former CEO of Intrum Group, the Swedish credit and investment management company, joins Protium’s board of directors. Ericson will advise you on international opportunities and funding.
  • Sir John Rose, former Managing Director of Rolls Royce, joins the Advisory Board, bringing with him a wealth of manufacturing and energy knowledge and who is currently involved in a number of energy and environmental technology projects . Sir John will leverage his industry expertise and advise on strategic partnerships.
  • David Scott, co-founder and chairman of Tribe Impact Capital, the UK’s impact investment and wealth management firm, also joins the advisory board. David will provide advice and guidance on all areas covering ESG and finance while leveraging his start-up expertise.

Commenting on the announcement, Chris Jackson, CEO and Founder of Protium, said: “I am delighted to welcome Mikael, John and David to our Board of Directors and Advisory Board at such an exciting time for the business. Securing their support and completing this funding round once again demonstrates the growing interest in not only green hydrogen as an emerging and viable energy solution, but also the Protium proposal more broadly. At a time when it is essential to act, I am delighted to have the support of our investors and specialists to accelerate our activity.

“Welcoming the new Board and Advisory Board members – who have a proven track record of success in their respective fields – is incredibly exciting for myself and the entire team. Each brings with them a remarkable experience that I am honored that Protium can draw on and work with – I have no doubts that their contribution will be invaluable.

Commenting on his appointment to the Board of Directors, Mikael Ericson, said: “I am extremely happy to join the Protium Board of Directors at such a critical time for the energy market and our environment. I have been very impressed with the work Chris and the entire Protium team have accomplished in such a short period of time and I am proud to be able to support them throughout this next stage of growth.

In addition to their recent emergence in Wales and Scotland over the past three months, various companies in the aviation, horticulture, alcohol manufacturing, and food and beverage industries are working with Protium to support their decarbonization strategies, with many new projects to be launched on the horizon.

The material cash contribution will accelerate Protium’s pipeline – whose CAPEX already totals more than £ 1 billion for projects in a variety of industries.

With the publication of the IPCC 2021 climate report, it is clear that rapid decarbonization is necessary to secure the future of our climate. Protium is proud to further develop its team and to work with forward-thinking UK companies to combat this global threat.
