WORLD DIASPORA CONFERENCE IN NIGERIA, 2021
The Nigeria Global Diaspora Conference is a one-day hybrid (physical and virtual) event focused on engaging Nigerians in the Diaspora towards the development of our homeland. The event is part of the NGA Diaspora Project 40/40 initiative. The World Conference is scheduled for Saturday October 2, 2021; LIVE AND ONLINE (Simulcast / Hybrid). It will take place LIVE in Nigeria at 10:00 a.m. at CMD, Magodo, Lagos, and simultaneously online – the Zoom webinar will be co-hosted by: Belgium at 11:00 a.m. (NIDOE-Belgium / Luxembourg) and Austria at 11:00 a.m. (NIDOE- Austria).
NGA Diaspora Project 40/40 is a social impact and creative diaspora engagement initiative with the sole purpose of bridging the existing gap between Nigerians living in Nigeria (Homeland) and Nigerians living abroad (Diaspora). This project is in active collaboration with the Society of Young Nigerians in Diaspora for International Collaboration and Transnational Engagement, Friends of Nigeria (FON), Paris-France, Diaspora Innovations Institute, Journalists International Forum For Migration (JIFORM), NIDOE-Belgique / Luxembourg chapter, the NIDOE-Sweden chapter, and the NIDOE-Greece chapter and other NIDO chapters around the world.
The project aims to take advantage of the symbolism of the number 40 to inspire a new narrative for Nigeria and Nigerians in general. The 40/40; represents 40 years of âNigerian Emigration Trends Between 1981 and 2021â, the project seeks to highlight the great wave of Nigerian diaspora emigration history by specifically reducing it from 1981 to 2021 and 40 stories from the Nigerian diaspora. diaspora that will come from the crowd within the Nigerian community. diaspora community across the globe to highlight lessons learned and share migration tips and best practices for young Nigerians.
The Diaspora Stories will eventually be published in a book as a manifesto and the compilation of 40 Diaspora Stories and eBook will be available for download online through the project website – www.ngadiasporaproject4040.com. The 40 Diaspora Stories and Lessons Learned will help redefine Andrew’s verification experience and set the standard and new model for the next generation of Andrews.
The conference, during which the project will be presented to the public, will focus on, among other things, migration and development and how diaspora engagement can be conducted to support national development efforts.
